When I was visiting a Temple in Thailand, I saw the cutest dog sitting patiently on the steps beneath a massive Buddha statue. He clearly belonged to someone. It was as if his human had said “sit here and wait for me patiently,” and his patience wore out, as he fell asleep.
That little dog reminded me of myself during many of my meditations, especially when I have been tired. One of my favorites meditations is Vipassana which means “insight into the true nature of reality. ” This practice teaches us that nothing is permanent and nothing is personal. And honestly, there have been moments when I just wanted to curl up in a ball and nap, just like that little dog.
But here’s the thing: Meditation doesn’t have to be hard.
It’s simply a way to focus the mind and manage our thoughts.
It’s about being present.
It’s a training that helps us be more responsive than reactive.
Meditation can be:
Watching a sunset.
Gazing at the clouds.
Noticing the uniqueness of your own handprint.
Sitting in silence and feeling connected to all that is.
Meditation is about being still enough to realize:
Your Divine Nature
Your Perfection
That you are a part of everything that is.
My prayer is that we each take a moment each day to truly appreciate all that we are and all that we are called to be.
blessings & love,
DJ
