Forgiveness is not about another person. Forgiveness is about us, it is about setting our heart free from the cumbersome burden of caring around resentment, guilt and anger.

It’s not telling someone that their behavior or actions were/are ok. We might have been a victim of abuse or poor behavior or loss, but we don’t have to be a victim any longer. We can choose not to carry around toxic feelings anymore. Their behavior was about them, not us. Did we suffer the ramifications of their actions? Yes. Is that moment over? Yes. So who makes us a victim in this moment? We do. We can set our heart free anytime we want to. Isn’t it time to stop making someone else responsible for our happiness or lack of happiness. We are the only ones responsible for our happiness.

When we choose forgiveness, we are letting go of the weight of resentment, guilt and anger that has given us a heavy heart for way too long.

Carrying around toxic feelings affect all of our relationships including the relationship that we have with ourselves. Letting go of resentments, anger and past pains is a natural face lift, we feel lighter and brighter. It takes courage and a willing heart to change.

Today I pray, we allow the past to truly live in the past so that we can enjoy the “Present “that lives in the NOW and BE the LIGHT of the world.

And so it is!

blessings & love,

Until next time, BE radiantradical & real!

p.s. I wrote this post-July 17, 2011, and updated it in 2017. It is a good reminder for me. My ego can get all tied up in thoughts that don’t serve me when I feel hurt, judged, or criticized by someone close to me, and when I feel hurt, I want to RUN. I have learned that I can run……but I can’t hide from myself. This post- was a good reminder of the power of our thoughts.
