I love the way author Carolyn Myss talks about energy being like money. This is my take on what I remember.

Say we were born with $100 dollars worth of energy allotted for each day of our life. Because of all the baggage that we have picked up and held on to over the course of our life, we are doing good to start out each day with $80 worth of energy.

Say on any giving day, something like the following occurs:

If we can’t find the pants that we want to wear, we may give away anywhere between $2 and $10 of energy toward frustration. We get in the car and realize that we have to stop and get gas, and we are already running late because of the pant thing. We might give away another $3 or so to that experience. When we get to work and are greeted with our boss telling us that we have a client that has been waiting for us for ten minutes. We might give that $3 to $20 worth of energy, depending on how secure we feel in our job. So, it’s not even ten o’clock in the morning and we may only have $50 worth of energy to operate our day with; certainly not operating at the top of our potential game.

Imagine, after the client leaves, the boss has words with us and a friend’s boy friend just dumped her and she wants to cry on our shoulder. The school calls and asks us to pick up our child because he has lice. How much energy do you think we might have at the end of a day like this? Not much.

So, how do we hold on to our energy? See my next posting.

Today I pray that we let go of any and all past experiences and thoughts that don’t serve us, so we may more fully step into our Divine lives every day.

And so it is!

blessings & love,

small
